Gifts for "our children" for C h r i s t m a s 2 0 0 8

JennyStar DVD Rentals supports, with your movie rentals and our "profits", these children all year round (click to read more). We pay monthly support for their education, school supplies, clothes for the children, plus health cover for the children and their parents, as well as contributions toward their houses. For their birthdays, the get shoes. We do all this through "Common Hope", which here in Guatemala is known as "Familias de Esperanza", who channel the funds to the families and have social workers who supervise that the children stay at school and any building and other supplies are properly used. The condition for staying in the program is that the children attend school. Jennifer and ourselves also visit the families to make sure all is well.

We have Christmas Stockings in the store for each child we sponsor – Brandon, Yanira and Marvin. If you want to GIVE A GIFT: Brandon is 6 and has cerebral palsy. For him we would suggest toys (cars, trucks), picture books.

Yanira is 18 and attends school as does Marvin who is 16. Since Familias de Esperanza pays for school supplies, we would suggest personal care items, books in Spanish, board games, art supplies, and other appropriate items for teenagers.

WE ARE GIVING FREE JennyStar T-Shirts with a donation of Q75 or more. Sizes available are "14" (child), S, M, L, XL

You may donate money – either to a specific child; or to all three (that we will divide evenly). We will buy food bags at Familias de Esperanze for each family in the amount of all donated money.

In the store there is a book where you will log your cash donation.

If you choose to remain anonymous – you should include your name in the book, but indicate “anonymous” for the website. You will receive a receipt for your donation on your DVD rental invoice.

Read more about Asociación JennyStar, a Non Governmental Organization (Organización No Gubernamental), registered by the Guatemalan authorities. The purpose of the NGO, aside from giving work to me and Guatemalan staff, is to donate ALL profits to support disabled and poor children in Antigua and surrounding villages. By renting a DVD, you agree that your money, after deduction of our costs, will be made into a donation.
